Over the last three months I have been working with Mihai Bocsaru, Chief Web Developer of PRO IT Service (http://www.pro-it-service.com/), gradually implementing new features and improvements on the FastServers.Net BLOG. Recently I interviewed Urchin’s co-founder, Scott Crosby. Google acquired Urchin back in November, 2005. Since then Crosby has been leading the development and business objectives for the Urchin program at Google as Enterprise Business Development Manager. We discussed the future of the product and compared it to Google’s own free website traffic analytics program, aptly named Google Analytics.

Flipping the Switch with Tom Green

Online videos are a popular communication medium on the Internet right now. Companies publishing video content such as YouTube, Google Video, and Video.AOL.com, have all taken technology to the next level by integrating with Social Media websites as part of the Web 2.0 generation. Increasing daily are requests for Social Media based hosting servers specifically used for video streaming, niche MySpace replicas, and various other methods for people to communicate with each other. All of these concepts are part of the Web 2.0 sensation where “ease of use” and overall content are becoming part of the Internet as we know it.

In December we started a project asking a few of our customer if they would be interested in doing a video testimonial. It was met with great success! If you would have asked me to predict the outcome, I would have told you that maybe 2-3 videos would be online in a couple of weeks. What actually took place was an overwhelming response from 8 very different organizations and a lot of really good web development to make this project a reality.

New technology – who needs it? Well, if you read my story, you too may want to utilize the latest in technology using Firefox, Google, BLOGS, and RSS Readers. I am a hard sell when it comes to using new technology. I don’t want it to complicate my life. And I certainly don’t want to spend a lot of time trying to figure out how to use the fancy features and nifty gadgets. Don’t get me wrong, I still like to install, configure, and play with new software as it becomes available. But for the most part, it is quickly removed and erased from my thoughts, just as quickly as it was downloaded and installed on my computer. So where am I going with this?
