New technology – who needs it? Well, if you read my story, you too may want to utilize the latest in technology using Firefox, Google, BLOGS, and RSS Readers. I am a hard sell when it comes to using new technology. I don’t want it to complicate my life. And I certainly don’t want to spend a lot of time trying to figure out how to use the fancy features and nifty gadgets. Don’t get me wrong, I still like to install, configure, and play with new software as it becomes available. But for the most part, it is quickly removed and erased from my thoughts, just as quickly as it was downloaded and installed on my computer. So where am I going with this?

It’s an amazing thought that there are companies out there that do nothing but own knowledge, and they make a good living doing it. They are called Intellectual Property (IP) owners. IP owners are not new businesses, but the thought of owning intellectual property does make you wonder. If a company can sustain itself just from licensing an “idea” held within a patent or other copyrighted work, what are you doing with your IP?

Okay, how often do you see the CEO posting a blog about a particular department in the company, much less any aspect of the company? Sure, it’s rare, but I have to admit, when I think of a “blog,” I think of informal information that is typically presented in a humorous manner. There are plenty of blogs out there that are serious and contain very useful information. Normally you would have to search deep into a knowledge base to find the information you want. My blog post today will not be technical in nature, but does contain a lot of humor. Trust me when I say this, you will want to continue reading. It has to do with outsourced support to, well, you just have to keep reading to find out.

Something incredible took place at the W Hotel (www.whotel.com) on Tuesday, February 20, in downtown Chicago. A group of some of the most creative and inspiring minds in the hosting industry collected for a day to discuss the upcoming HostingCon 2007 event. Prominent leaders in the hosting industry shared their opinions and feedback on how to make this an event everyone will be talking about long after it’s over.

First in maybe a recurring Series.So let me first clarify..I’m a sales guy at heart. I’m not your IP guru who will program the Cisco to do magic. But, I’ve been around the block for a while. And I have seen many providers come (and go). So I feel like I have some opinion on things. Usually, it’s a skewed opinion.
