Meet Yolanda Perkins, Accounts Receivable Associate
Yolanda
Perkins is one of the latest additions to the billing team at FastServers.Net.
As the new Accounts Receivable Associate, her job is to make sure
customers pay their bills on time. "Although each customer's needs
are different, I have noticed one common likeness among them - each
one likes to know their needs are being accurately, yet promptly processed."
Yolanda said she has new and exciting challenges everyday and considers
her new position to be multi-faceted. "No one day is the same here
at FastServers.Net. To me, that makes it so much easier to go above
and beyond the call of duty." At work, Yolanda's passion for caring
about customer needs is her top priority, but outside of the office,
music, poetry, food, and traveling keep her occupied.
Having played the flute for 15 years and competing in several flute and ensemble competitions, Yolanda's passion for music helps her fit into the culture at FastServers.Net. "I have several medals from the competitions and found the entire experience to be truly rewarding." Yolanda also has experience playing the alto saxophone. Yolanda has retired from playing the flute or saxophone and now spends her time writing poetry and occasionally participating in poetry activities such as Open Mic and Free Style sessions. And if there are any related events in the Chicago area, she regularly attends those too.
Some of Yolanda's favorite poets include Edgar Allen Poe (Alone & El Dorado), Maya Angelou (Still I Rise & I Shall Not Be Moved), Paul Laurence Dunbar (Sympathy), and Langston Hughes (The Negro Speaks of Rivers & Dreams). "With Poe he speaks in a more Shakespearian form while also catching you with the imagery of his writing as in his poem El Dorado." She said Maya Angelou is a landmark writer and has a soulful and deeply expressive nature unmatched with any other writer. "Angelou is poised, yet elegant and expresses herself in a way that keeps you listening to her story." Yolanda said that reading Angelou's works or watching one of her films, or even hearing her speak is a true experience with the deepest, most rewarding outcome.
When Yolanda is not writing poetry or free styling creative masterpieces in front of an audience, you can find her cooking various gourmet dishes. "A few of my favorite dishes are scallop cheesy potatoes with breaded chicken, homemade macaroni and cheese, steamed stir fry potatoes with grilled chicken, seasoned with peppers, and last but not least, parmesan chicken rice." To enhance her cooking skills, Yolanda wants to travel to Italy and pick up tips from some of the locals. And it will give her an opportunity to experience the cuisine and taste of romance, Italian style. She said Japan is on her itinerary as well. "Visiting other countries will give me an opportunity to see how different cultures prepare their meals."
Yolanda enjoys listening to various types of music. Her favorite is Jazz followed by Gospel, New Age and Traditional Classical. "Fourplay is my favorite artist, however, Najee, The Yellow Jackets, Joshua Redmond, and Ramsey Lewis are alternative top options." She said with Gospel music, Juanita Bynum and Yolanda Adams are at the top of the list. And with Traditional Classical, Mozart, Yanni, and Adlan Cruz top the charts.
Basketball, golf, football and the occasional baseball game are some of Yolanda's favorite sports. She's not a sports fanatic like most other FastServers.Net employees, but considers herself open to watching a game. "I don't really have a favorite basketball team; I just like to watch those that bring competition worth watching. For football, I'd say the Chicago Bears are number one. I believe Lovie Smith has a good coaching philosophy and that's important." Regarding baseball, she has to go with the Chicago White Sox. "On the lighter side I enjoy watching ballroom dancing. I have an appreciation for talent and the dance routines that are showcased in the competitions." Yolanda believes it takes a lot of skill, drive, agility, and dedication to be as good as those dancers you see in the competitions.
Like we do with all FastServers.Net employees, we asked Yolanda what
she enjoys the most about FastServers.Net. "The relaxed, yet efficiently
run professional environment makes this a great place to work. It
is so nice to walk into the office and feel as if you are walking
into a warm culture instead of the traditional high-stress, anxiety-filled
corporate environment." We like to hear that from our employees. After
all, a great environment makes it much easier for people to work harder
and feel rewarded for their efforts. Yolanda described her passion
for not just the company, but most importantly, FastServers.Net customers.
"As a stickler about quality service, I feel it necessary to reward
our customers with nothing less. I embrace the opportunity to contribute
my years of customer service and accounting experience to satisfy
the needs of both new and existing clientele."
