Meet Geoffrey Crump, Director, Customers Relations

"I like that we collectively work hard to provide the best services in the industry. This is very rewarding to me as an employee."
Geoffrey
Crump is the Director of Customer Relations at FastServers.Net. An
avid improv comedian, Geoff preformed with Comedy Sportz in Buffalo
for seven years. We have experienced his comedic nature in a live
setting - at the 2006 FastServers.Net Holiday party. He spent several
minutes making us all laugh with a drink in one hand and a microphone
in the other. We asked Geoffrey if he considers anyone to be his favorite
comedian. "At this point I do not have a favorite comedian. I used
to listen to Bill
Cosby a lot when I was a kid." He said Bill Cosby was and still
is a good storyteller. We heard about something else that Geoffrey likes about Bill Cosby.
If you recall the mid to late 80s and early 90s, Bill Cosby had a television show - The Cosby Show. The show aired on NBC's Thursday night primetime slot. Cosby always wore a trademark sweater with vibrant colors, lines, and symbols. "I used to ask for Bill Cosby sweaters for Christmas when I was younger. I liked how crazy and colorful they were"
Born and raised in Buffalo, New York, Geoffrey grew up playing soccer
in high school and spent many days as a kid playing pick-up football
games in his friends' back yards. "Hockey is a great sport, but unfortunately
since I now live in Chicago, I don't get to see much of the Buffalo
Sabres anymore. Looks like the Chicago Blackhawks will have to
do." He said he is always torn between wanting the Blackhawks to do
well (so hockey becomes more popular in Chicago) and wanting them
to be mediocre so he can get tickets to a home game anytime he wants.
"I just saw my first live NBA game,
which was fun (although I don't follow basketball), but it was an
exciting experience attending a live game." Geoffrey also enjoys watching
football and baseball. "Baseball is only fun when I am at the game
or in a big group of fans watching it on TV - I never watch it by
myself."
When Geoffrey is not at a hockey game or watching baseball on television,
he likes to go hiking and climbing mountains. "I used to go to the Adirondack
Mountain region in New York State every summer. Now I'm in the
mid-west and all I see is flat land. Maybe a few hills here and there,
but the land is mostly flat." Since he can no longer go hiking and
mountain climbing (unless he travels back to the Adirondacks), Geoffrey
enjoys watching his favorite television shows. "My favorite television
show of all time is Futurama.
I like it better than the Simpsons." He claims he loves too many movies
to mention, but has been hooked on A Bronx Tale thanks to a previous
roommate. "When I worked at Disney World, my roommate watched A
Bronx Tale everyday. Before I knew it, I was watching it with
him." Geoffrey said when he left Florida, one of the first things
he did was purchase a copy of A Bronx Tale.
A natural comedian, Geoffrey has participated in several sketch and improv shows since he has moved to Chicago. Currently, he is working with a group of writers to produce a new (and hopefully funny and exciting) sketch comedy show. "Performing is my way of releasing all the tension and energy that can get built up throughout the day, week..or even month. It's great to see something you have created come to life."
Geoffrey has an extensive background in customer service. Prior to
coming to FastServers.Net, he spent a lot of time working in customer
service positions at buy.com and Walt
Disney World. Now he spends his days playing an integral part
in resolving billing issues and working on collections. "It's challenging
to balance customer service and bill collecting (more so from the
customer's perspective)." He said he does not enjoy enforcing billing
rules and regulations, but they are necessary for the business to
survive.
"The rules and regulations I have put in place are to help protect
the business, which in turn directly helps to protect customers. I
want to help customers any way I can, but in the end, business is
not a one-sided relationship." He said his position can be very demanding
and the opportunities as an employee at FastServers.Net are abundant.
"I like that FastServers.Net continues to grow and improve. Being
part of a team that really cares about its customers can have a significant
impact on the success of a business. And I like that we collectively
work hard to provide the best services in the industry. This is very
rewarding to me as an employee."
