Meet Brandon Ewing, Network Operations Administrator
Brandon
Ewing is the Network Operations Administrator at FastServers.Net directly.
He is responsible for most of the FastServers.Net back-end systems
that help our entire team stay organized and operate efficiently.
Utilizing his impressive PHP
programming skills, Brandon is capable of developing and managing
systems that create intense productivity within the company. "One
of my most advanced systems developed here at FastServers.Net is the
Server Management Portal tied directly into the Pentagon interface."
He said the system is one of the many tools that differentiate FastServers.Net
from the competition.
Brandon may not compete in professional snowboarding, but he enjoys snowboarding at Lake Tahoe at least once a year. "I used to live and work in California so it was a lot easier to visit Tahoe and rip up the slopes. Now that I am back in Iowa, I like to frequent the local resorts during the winter." He learned to snowboard at Squaw Valley near Lake Tahoe, home of the 1960 Winter Olympics. "In addition to great slopes, they also still have the Olympic Village at the base of the mountain, which offers great places to eat and drink after a long day of snowboarding." Brandon told us he owns a Donek Wide 165 snowboard, hand-made by a small company in Colorado that makes a quality product. "I would recommend anyone looking to purchase an intermediate to advanced level snowboard, invest in a Donek."
Prior to moving to Iowa, Brandon spent a while in the Fremont, California data center managing operations. "Fremont was an excellent experience for me - making new contacts and learning new skills were my secondary goal there (after my actual job, of course)." While living in California, Brandon used to cruise around on a 1997 Suzuki GS500E. "California is such a great place to ride a motorcycle. Iowa has some great places to ride as well. Matter of fact, I am looking to buy a new Suzuki SV650 soon, which is a v-twin with no fairings."
Brandon has owned and operated approximately eight different cell phones since he has been working at FastServers.Net. An unusual characteristic of most employees at the company, Brandon said he has to try them all to find the one with the best and most efficient features. Or we think he goes through phones so fast because he likes to throw them at the techs. We are completely joking. Brandon is quite reposeful. Well, maybe not when he's at his favorite local bar - Jo Mama's. When he is not searching for his next phone, you can find Brandon at Jo Mama's, a bar that is approximately one block from his house. "Jo Mama's is my favorite bar and it is well within stumbling distance, if you know what I mean."
The local bar trips are reserved for "off duty" times. While at the
office, Brandon can utilize his skills to help develop services and
offerings that differentiate FastServers.Net from the competition.
"We always strive to provide products and services other companies
do not provide, or are unable to provide well." Brandon's ability
to enhance the NOC efficiencies can be attributed to his LPIC-1
certification, which is a fast growing, non-vendor Linux Administrator
certification. "I am currently studying for my LPIC-2
certification, which is a more advanced version of the same certificate."
Overall, Brandon's favorite aspect of working at FastServers.Net is
the ability to take on so many "interesting things."
